Beta
How to install Come Out and Play
We're in beta, so it isn't a normal store download yet. iPhone goes through Apple's TestFlight, Android through Google Play's testing track. Both are free, and both are one-time setup.
On iPhone — TestFlight
TestFlight is Apple's official app for testing apps before release.
- Tap the invitation link: testflight.apple.com/join/w92hhV64
- If you don't have TestFlight yet, Apple takes you to the App Store to install it. It's free.
- Open TestFlight and work through Apple's setup — the agreements and permissions it asks for are Apple's, not ours.
- Tap Accept, then Install.
Come Out and Play then appears on your Home Screen like any other app.
If TestFlight asks you for a redemption code — you don't need one.
This is the one place people get stuck, and it isn't your mistake. Apple sometimes loses track of the original invitation during TestFlight's first-run setup and falls back to asking for a code. The fix is to hand it the link again:
Leave TestFlight, go back to the invitation link, and tap it again. TestFlight is set up now, so this time it opens straight to Come Out and Play. Tap Accept, then Install.
On Android — Google Play
There's no extra app to install. You join the test once, and after that it behaves like any normal Play Store app.
- On your phone, tap the opt-in link: play.google.com/apps/testing/com.overheadinnovations.coap247
- Sign in with the same Google account your phone uses, if you're asked.
- Tap Become a tester.
- Follow the Download it on Google Play link and tap Install.
If the Play Store still says the app is unavailable, give it a few minutes — it can take a moment for Google to register you as a tester — then reopen the link.
Say yes to notifications
When the app asks permission to send notifications, choose Allow.
This one matters more than it usually does. Come Out and Play is built around plans that come together the same day — notifications are how you hear that a friend is up for something, that you've been invited, or that a plan you're in has changed. An invitation you find tomorrow is a ride you missed.
You're not signing up for a stream. Once you're in, Account → Notification settings gives you quiet hours, a daily limit, snooze, and per-activity mutes, so you can tune exactly what gets through.
While you're testing
- iPhone: builds expire after 90 days. That's Apple's rule for all beta apps, not a problem with ours. TestFlight tells you when a new build is ready — open TestFlight and tap Update. Keep TestFlight installed; it's how updates reach you during the beta.
- Android: updates arrive on their own through the Play Store, exactly like any other app.
- Sending feedback: on iPhone, take a screenshot and TestFlight offers to send it with your notes attached; you can also use Send Beta Feedback from the app's TestFlight page. On Android — or any time you'd rather just write to us — use Support in the app or coap247.com/support.
Come Out and Play needs iOS 15 or later. TestFlight itself needs a more recent iOS than that — if the App Store won't install it, update iOS first.
Join the tester group
There's a Facebook group for testers. It's where new releases get announced, where you'll hear what's changed and what's worth trying, and where you can compare notes with the other people testing this.
It's also the easiest place to find someone to connect with — the app does nothing on your own, so post your friend code and add a few people.
The group is private, so this invite link is refreshed every couple of days. If it doesn't work, it's gone stale rather than closed — let us know and we'll send a fresh one.
Installed? Here's what to do first
The walkthrough takes about ten minutes and ends with actual plans to go do something.
